About The Author

Raised in San Jose in the South San Francisco Bay Area, I proudly identify as Italian American. My journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) began in 2003 while I was incarcerated, with an official diagnosis following in 2008. The bewildering fluctuations of the relapsing-remitting phase of the disease have filled my determination to educate and support fellow sufferers, as well as those newly diagnosed, about the complexities of MS. Inspired by my son’s suggestion, the title “Many Scars” emerged from the translation of “Multiple Sclerosis” into English, encapsulating the resilience and challenges inherent in the condition. Currently directing the non-active secondary progressive phase of MS at 43 years old, I boarded on writing this book during the COVID-19 lockdown, channeling my boundless energy and feeling a sense of duty to raise awareness among those who may one day face similar circumstances.
